I am very pleased to announce that the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) recently awarded me with the Mastership award, one of the most rigorous continuing dental education awards offered today.

On July 10^th, 2010, I joined more than 80 other dentists to receive this prestigious honor during the AGD’s Annual Meeting and Exhibits held in New Orleans, La.

Over the past 45 years, more than 2,700 dentists worldwide completed 1,100 hours of continuing dental education to receive the Mastership with the AGD, a professional association of more than 35,000 general dentists who are dedicated to professional excellence through the pursuit of continuing education.

Menlo Park Dentist Receives 2010 Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry

Chicago (July 2010) – The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), a professional association of more than 35,000 general dentists who are dedicated to staying up to date in the profession through continuing education, is pleased to announce that ChauLong T. Nguyen, DDS, MAGD, of Menlo Park, California, received the association’s 2010 Mastership award during the AGD 2010 Annual Meeting & Exhibits, held July 8^th to 11^th in New Orleans, La.

The Mastership award is the highest honor available at the AGD and one of the most respected designations within the profession. To accomplish this goal, Dr. Nguyen completed more than 1,100 hours of continuing dental education. As a recipient of this award, Dr. Nguyen joins more than 2,100 AGD members who understand that providing great smiles and good oral health for their patients are the result of going above and beyond basic requirements.

“We are proud to honor Dr. Nguyen for her commitment to the profession,” says AGD President Fares M. The Fellowship and Mastership designations are two of the most rigorous continuing dental education programs today. A general dentist who is a “Fellow” in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) has been recognized by other general dentists as a leader and example to other dentistists of the importance of quality continuing dental education to patient care. A general dentist who has earned the designation “Master” of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) has completed a structured and demanding set of requirements involving all the dental disciplines.

The Academy of General Dentistry

The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), a professional association of more than 35,000 general dentists who are dedicated to professional excellence thought the pursuit of continuing education. Founded in 1952, the AGD has grown to become the second largest dental association in the United States, and its is the only association that exclusively represents the needs and interests of general dentists. More than 772,000 persons in the United States are employed directly in the field of dentistry. A general dentist is the primary care provider for patients of all ages and is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, management and overall coordination of services related to patients’ oral health needs.

Fellowship

To attain Fellowship, a dentist must complete 500 hours of continuing dental education, pass a comprehensive exam and fulfill three years of continuous membership in the AGD.

Mastership

To attain Mastership, a dentist must complete 1,100 hours of continuing dental education.

How FAGD or MAGD Benefits Patients

Fellows and Masters of the AGD follow a lifelong pursuit of continuing education to provide the highest quality of dental care to patients.
